An agreement was reached announcing an important strategic alliance within the design industry.
Boffi, the high-end brand for kitchens and bathrooms, has acquired 100% of De Padova, worldwide iconic furniture design company. Luca De Padova acquires 7.5% of Boffi and therefore becomes its second main shareholder.
This important step will see to the two brands maintaining their own different identities, united by the same shared aim of creating a platform of excellence for the design industry which is now ever more integrated and interlinked for all the living areas: from bathrooms to beds and storage systems, kitchens to upholstered products and complementary items.
Boffi and De Padova will collaborate together to further develop the common process of internationalization in order to sustain the Italian “know how” by forming a stronger unity and increasing involvement in both private and contract sectors.
Luca De Padova is now President of De Padova and has become the Vice President of Boffi, officially entering the board of directors. With his new position in Boffi, he will contribute to the development of the group thanks to his knowledge and experience within the interiors industry.
Roberto Gavazzi is now CEO of Boffi and De Padova, ensuring operational guidance for both companies.
Boffi and De Padova are the extraordinary combination of two heritage brands which integrate perfectly thanks to their business histories, contribution to the development of Italian design, and strong brand image as market leaders.
Roberto Gavazzi: “Over the past few years I had been courting Luca, convinced that the union of our two companies would create something extraordinary in terms of quality standards and product range, across a worldwide network of dedicated showrooms with each company’s strong brand identities and overall product quality helping both companies grow internationally. The alliance with De Padova is an important example of how two Italian companies are able to take on new global challenges together by creating an ambitious project of growth in a stable balance of resources and skills”.
Luca De Padova: "The union with Boffi will further increase growth and development for De Padova worldwide within the design industry where Italy is considered as market leader. Thanks to a partner with a strong distribution network we will have higher visibility with new exhibiting spaces which are ever more difficult to achieve. I also believe in synergies on larger projects and in the possibility of creating and opening stores together that will represent both companies at their best. I always found myself in agreement with Roberto on business strategies and on the common vision of being an entrepreneur. Product taste, the search for a cohesive industrial project, passion and desire to overcome difficulties, make us very close. I am sure that we will achieve very ambitious goals.”
In the definition of the agreement Boffi was assisted by the Studio Ferrari_ Pedeferri, De Padova by the Studio Bonelli Erede Pappalardo.

K20 (KITCHEN) and SOLFERINO (WARDROBE)
have been awarded an honourable mention in the COMPASSO d’ORO ADI (Association for the Industrial Design) by the International Jury of the “ADI XXIII Premio Compasso d’Oro”.
The International Jury has given 20 Compasso d'Oro Awards and 90 Honourable Mentions.
The XXIII edition prize was celebrated in Milan, its hometown, on the occasion of its sixtieth anniversary (1954-2014). The previous editions were held in Turin in 2008 (when it was the World Design Capital) and in Rome in 2011 (celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy).
This edition of the award is part of a program of initiatives called "Design è" aimed to highlight the design role in the run up to the 2015 Expo. "Design è" is sponsored by the City of Milan and the Regione Lombardia together with Federlegno Arredo.
The Compasso d’Oro award, along with the selection work by the ADI Design Index Observatory, is in the centre of an enhancing process of Italian design.
The exhibition was open during the Salone del Mobile and had great success.
Following the official celebration ceremony, items awarded with the Compasso d'Oro as well as those selected with the Honorable Mention, enter the Compasso d'Oro ADI Collection – recognized in 2004 as “Bene di interesse nazionale”.
By being part of this collection, the selected products increase their value to beyond their commercial worth, since the collection is unique in the world and a testament to the 60 years' history of Italian design.

Boffi has announced a new Chicago location in the River North area. This marks a move from the company’s original Chicago location to a 2000 square foot space within the Maxalto (a B&B Italia offshoot) studio. The new showroom operates as a showcase for new concepts, and Chicago home to the comprehensive and evolving Boffi collections.
The move to the new location comes as Boffi Chicago is poised to introduce new kitchen, bath and wardrobe systems.
With a distinctive design philosophy, Boffi maintains an authentic aesthetic recognizable worldwide, and remains an essential resource with the trade and high-design minded consumers.
